Dedicated to the 152nd Anniversary of the granting of the title of Villa to Guantanamo; to the teacher Modesto Conrado Monier, recently deserving of the Maestro de Juventudes Award from the Hermanos Saíz Association, the Fiesta a La Guantanamera will be held from December 15 to 18, the main event promoted by the Provincial Directorate of Culture in the easternmost territory of Cuba .
With activities that will highlight the identity, values and traditions of our homeland, the festival will honor the puppeteer actor Ury Rodríguez, for his 35 years of professional work and the 35 years of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in the territory, it will also have as a guest the artistic talent of the municipality of Baracoa, highlighting the popular crafts and culinary culture of the Primada.
The festivity, which reaches its twenty-sixth edition, offers several attractions, including the IV Provincial Festival of Winemakers, at the Casa de la Cultura Rubén López Sabariego, and the Cultural Route Touring My City from Plaza 24 de Febrero to the park José Martí to show the historical values and architectural heritage of the city of Guaso.
It is also worth noting the holding of the Cultural Products and Services Fair in the surroundings and interior of the Martí Park, an initiative that for the first time will bring together all the institutions, centers and councils of the sector to exhibit the internal work and even market.
The theoretical section will include the Symposium of the Peoples of the Caribbean to discuss the conservation of the intangible heritage of the province of Guantánamo, and especially the values of Villa del Guaso.
As usual, La Guantanamera will have scientific and commercial activities, artistic presentations, and various recreational options, including dance spaces, visual arts exhibitions, and expo-fairs. All the previous proposals, plus the delivery of the Brotherhood Distinction to 10 prominent figures of Culture in the province will make the Festival a unique moment for the people on this side of the archipelago.
