The Plaza 24 de Febrero was the venue for the celebrations this September 7 of the national act for the 45th anniversary of the creation of the National Union of Cultural Workers (SNTC) in the Greater Antilles, at which time the province received the Condition of National Vanguard in the union emulation for the seventh time.
Said ceremony was presided over by the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and First Secretary in the province, Rafael Pérez Fernández and the Governor Emilio Matos Mosqueda, with the presence of the National Secretary of the SNTC, Katia María Rodríguez Ramos and the invitation special of the Vice President of the Union of Journalists of Cuba, Ariel Terrero, among other leaders, also brought together exponents of dance, music, visual arts, theater, the press, among others.
The evening was propitious for the imposition of 15 Raúl Gómez García distinctions to personalities from the Cuban Upper East and the delivery of the 45th anniversary plaque of the SNTC to important figures in the sector, including Xiomara Solis, the teacher Conrado Monier, the journalists Isaac García and Dianelbis Delfino, the Director of Culture, Yoelvys Labañino and the Secretary of the Cultural Union in Guantánamo, Susana Orphee; Previously, it was received by groups such as the Joint Artistic Integral Mountain and the CMKS radio station.

The National Secretary of the SNTC, Katia María Rodríguez Ramos, when pronouncing the central words of the act, highlighted the quality of the celebration, the hospitality of the Guantanamo people and the results of the territory in the union and professional field. She also thanked the support of the institutions, the Government, the Party, the organizations of artists and journalists, whose alliance is vital to face the current challenges, the destabilizing campaigns and preserve culture, as the shield and sword of the nation.
