The XXXIII ordinary session of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power of Guantánamo analyzed, last Friday, September 30, the issue of food sovereignty and nutritional education, as one of the main points on its agenda. The deficiencies and potentialities of the municipality for the task were evaluated.
In the debate, the delegates pointed out that in order to promote food production, the people must be mobilized more towards working with the land. Guantánamo is an agricultural area and yet we are still behind in the results we need. They also mentioned that there are many unemployed who can be employed in agriculture.
They also spoke out against the lack of control over the use of land and attention to the needs of the peasant, to which Mariela Carballo pointed out that the issue must be addressed in an intersectoral manner and requires everyone. It is necessary to direct more what should and can be sown, and to regulate the commercialization since deviations of production persist, conditioning the scarcity of products and their increase in prices in the hands of individuals.

The Education, Health, Communal, Sports, Culture and Science Commission presented at the XXXIII ordinary session of the Assembly the report on the results of the prevention and social care tasks in the municipality.
